Weather spire

…stretching for the sky and moves with the weather…

Sokna Presse

In this sculpture the temperature differences are used to force movements into a two part construction.

  1. As the metal coil (fixed in one end) become warmer/colder by the ambient air and directly by the sun, the pipe (making up the coil) is sliding on hundreds of rollers and forced to “stretch-contract” according to the temperature.
  2. This movement is transferred (by a connecting arrangement) to a mechanism making the spires folds/unfolds accordingly.

The sculpture, with its seven tall spires senses the temperature, thus changes expression.
